jokes let's talk about june
June we had the Fieldays at Mystery Creek and it was an absolute cracker. It might look like we do from the outside but as a food vendor we really don't get that many events that are the ✨perfect storm✨ The team was on fire, the systems were working, nothing broke, the stock was flowing, the neighbours were amazing and the crowds were hungry! We were so grateful for how well it went!! We've lost track of how many times we've been but we reckon this great time was about 6 years in the making! We'll be back next year to do it all again.
Hot on the heels of the Fieldays was Matariki, we had a week full of events, the highlight definitely the first time event from Hori - Matariki on Moana. It was the most perfectly crisp, blue winters day in Ōtaki, the sun was so warm and the whole beach was packed with people coming to celebrate Matariki. We were down a person and got obliterated for 5 hours straight which we are also VERY stoked about because it's winter in a recession guys 😂😂
We went to the Otaki College Matariki evening which was really fun and the Maoriland Matariki street party on Sunday was another beaut - we strongly suggest you follow them on socials because the Maoriland Hub has got it going on!

into July
Honestly the most exciting thing about July is Zaaffran making mashed potato, spinach and cheese spring rolls. If you slept on that you really need to hunt them down because wow.
We've had the annual Wellington Tattoo Convention where we get to see lots of people we only see once a year! For the rest we've been doing our regular pop ups
Tuesday - Ōtaki 5 til 8pm (main road)
Wednesday - Levin 5 til 8pm (mall carpark)
Thursday - Waikanae 5 til 8pm (Te Moana Grocer)
Friday Ōtaki 11 til 8pm (main road)
Saturday Waitarere 5 til 8pm (next to 4square)
Yum things we've eaten this month
Crack Chicken - Bulgogi Cheeseburger and Nashville Chicken were both yum as
Duck Island Ice Cream Sandwich - this is elite. everything about it is perfect. The packaging, the biscuits, the ice cream EVERYTHING.
Hangar this is a bit of a sneaky IYKYK! We got the Cheeseburger and fries - the fries have a heavy coat of yum as paprika mix on them and the cheeseburger was 🤌🏽 halloumi bites yep yep yep! Kasundi is suuuuch an underused condiment.

In other news
We managed to get in a hike over the school holidays, if you're looking for a short overnight hike that isn't too challenging (mostly flat, under 2 hours) hiiiiiiighly recommend the Waihohonu Track off the desert road. Insane scenery, flash as hut and easy with kids or first timers.
If you have hike recommendations please reply and let us know!
